Usage : For Gathering Oil Palm Fruit Bunches in Palm Oil Estates
Malaysian Patent No : MY-131409-A
Date of Grant : 30 August 2007
Period : 20 Years
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The invention relates to an apparatus that is capable of gathering material from the ground and discharging the same into a container by the use of a combination of plurality of hydraulic means and conveniently configured lever members attached to a gathering bucket that can be opened and closed
Historically, in palm oil estates, harvested oil palm fruit bunches were loaded into gathering containers by manual labour. This method proved to be expensive and inefficient. To overcome this deficiency, methods were developed to mechanise the method of loading oil palm fruit bunches into containers. Devices which use spikes or mechanical grabbers mounted onto a motorised vehicle were developed and introduced into the market for gathering harvested oil palm fruits. This was followed by the introduction of open conventional bucket loader that scooped up the oil palm fruit bunches from the ground and tipped the contents of the said bucket loader into a container. This method, though faster than the earlier methods described above, suffers from several disadvantages, in particular, the fruit bunches get damaged during the process of scoop gathering, because the fruit bunches on the ground tend to be pushed ahead by the gathering bucket loader before finally gathering it.
It is therefore an object of the invention to provide an apparatus that is mounted onto a vehicle to gather fruit bunches without substantially damaging the fruits while gathering. Yet another object is to have the apparatus to be advantageously mounted at the sides of a vehicle.
The Apparatus has the capacity of gathering 5 tons of the fruit bunches per hour, or 40 Tons per 8 hours/day on normal condition of roads in the estates.

Selling price of the apparatus ranged from RM50,000 to RM60,000, depends on specification and additional accessories.
The Inventor is now seeking for investor or business partners, for the purpose of setting up relevant production plant so as to launch the apparatus into market, it is estimated that the initial investment fund will be approx. RM1 million., interested parties are welcomed to contact Mr C F Wan (email : wan_cf@yahoo.com, mobile : +6 019 5608018) for detailed discussion on terms and conditions.
